Stefan Bollinger is a lighting designer, holds workshops and since 2019 is a lecturer for lighting design, lighting technology and color theory at the University Mozarteum at the Department of Scenography.
Stefan Bolliger (*1968 in Zurich) worked as a freelance lighting technician for several years before he was hired as a lighting technician at the Hamburg Thalia Theater in 1995. From 1997 to 2006 he was Deputy Head of Lighting there. He then worked from 2006 to 2010 as head of lighting and lighting designer at the theater of the Staatstheater Stuttgart. Since then he has been working as a freelance lighting designer. He worked at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Theater an der Wien, the Salzburg Festival, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden, the Theater Basel, the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, the New National Theater in Tokyo, the Norske Opera in Oslo, the Berlin State Opera, the Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, the Aalto Music Theater in Essen, the Latvian National Opera in Riga, the Wuppertal Opera, the Opera in Graz as well as the Teatro Nacional and the Gran Teatro in Havana. He also gave a workshop for stage design and lighting at the ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte, University of Havana) in 2014 and a workshop for lighting design in cooperation with the ISA in Havana in 2016. In 2017 and 2018 workshops for lighting design and lighting technology as well as for stage and projection technology at the Gran Teatro in Havana and in Camagüey (Cuba) followed. Since the winter semester 2019/20 he has been a lecturer in lighting design, lighting technology and color theory at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
