Florian Maierl was born in Leoben and received his first choral conducting lessons at the age of 15 in the Upper Austria State Music School. This was followed by studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He completed his church music studies in 2011 with honors. He is the founder and director of coro siamo, which was Austria's awarded best choir in the ORF choir competition "Austria sings!" in 2014. He is also head of church music at the Votivkirche in Vienna, lecturer at the church music conservatory of the Archdiocese of Vienna and lecturer in conducting and ensemble direction at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg. Since 2015 he has also been the artistic director of the Chorus Viennensis, male choir of former Vienna Boys' Choir.
