Philipp Lamprecht was born in South Tyrol in 1984, studied with Peter Sadlo at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and, shortly afterwards, achieved his first international successes through his support. Since then he has appeared as a timpani and drummer with various orchestras and ensembles in Europe and Asia, including the Kremerata Baltica, the Camerata Salzburg, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonic of Nations, the ensembles chromoson (co-founder), Windkraft Tirol, el perro andaluz, the Via Nova Percussion Group, etc.

He regularly collaborates with composers from Europe, Asia and America and performs solo and chamber music works from the 20th and early 21st centuries for stick playing, multipercussion and non-European instruments. In 2011/12 he was an academic at the International Ensemble Modern Akademie in Frankfurt am Main.

He is enthusiastic about the diverse range of early music percussion instruments and is specialized in field of historical performance practice. He also has his own ensemble, the Duo Enßle-Lamprecht (recorder/drums), but also with other sound bodies. His sponsors include the Cultural Department of the Province of Bozen (2010), the Austrian Ministry of Education (2012) and the Art Foundation Dinge-Anhalt (2014).

He has been a lecturer at the Orff Institute at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since the 2015 winter semester.
