Dominik Gumpenberger graduated from the Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2008 and also studied geography and economics at the Salzburg Faculty of Natural Sciences. He developed innovative products, especially in in the fields of kite surfing. As part of his training, he researched intensively with fiber composite materials and new construction methods. He also worked intensively on photography, web and graphic design. He organized an extensive world travel project in 2011 that gave him deep insights into marketing mechanisms and global relationships. He had his first teaching experience in the late 1990s as a pioneer in kite sport and he gave numerous courses and workshops at home and abroad. He is a lecturer in art education and technical processes at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and also works as an art, geography and economics teacher at the WRG Salzburg.
