Aleksei Grots was born in Moscow in 1988. He began his musical training with Vera Khoroschina at the Moscow State Conservatory, where he continued his studies at the Institute for Historical Performance Practice and Contemporary Interpretation from 2007 with Alexei Lubimov (piano), Yuri Martynov (historical instruments) and Konstantin Bataschov (composition). Since 2012 he has been completing his training with Jacques Rouvier at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.  

Grots has already been invited to internationally renowned festivals such as the "Piano Festival Ruhr" and the "Festival for Contemporary Music" in Baku. He attended master classes and won the first prize of the 2010 International Rubinstein Piano Competition. His repertoire includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Ravel, Prokofiev, Bartok, Schönberg and music from the 17th and 18th centuries and the present.   


With Alexei Lubimov he appeared on several projects dedicated to the works of Schönberg, Schubert, Berg and Ustvolskaya. He also had the opportunity to record a scrapbook with Soviet music by Denissov, Volkonsky and Bataschov. In 2011 he performed his arrangement of the mountain opera "Wozzeck" for string quartet, double bass and piano at the Chamber Music Festival in Jerusalem. In 2011 he recorded four-hand pieces by Schubert with Alexei Lubimov.
