Karen Schlimp studied piano pedagogy in Vienna, concert piano in London and improvisation in Leipzig. She took further classes in the fields of Taketina rhythm pedagogy, form pedagogy, composition, body work as well as communication and coaching.

She has already given concerts in Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and India. Collaborations connect her with composers and artists from the fields of painting, dance and video art. She has been playing contemporary live music on silent films for 10 years and has set over 30 films to music.

Her performance art projects include pianomobile - mobile, music with the bicycle-riding piano and Bahno-piano mobile. She conducts workshops on the topics of improvisation, visual arts and musical compositions and is active in school classes and in adult education.

Since 1996 she has been a lecturer at the Bruckner University in Linz and at the Music University in Vienna. In 2009 she habilitated in improvisation at the Bruckner University in Linz.
