Matthijs Lunenburg successfully studied recorder with Walter van Hauwe at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Bachelor and Master diploma) and then began studying zinc with William Dongois in 2006 in Paris and Geneva. These studies were made possible by a grant from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. He completed his zinc studies with Bork-Frithjof Smith at the State Conservatory in Trossingen (2012). As a recorder player he has performed in Europe and the USA with groups such as the recorder consort Royal Wind Music (2003 to 2010) and the Portuguese recorder consort A Imagem de Melancolia. As a tine artist he has given concerts with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Lautten Compagney, the Capella de la Torre, the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, the Marini Consort, the Capella Confluentes and the Musica Antiqua Salzburg. Since 2012 he has been teaching zinc as an elective subject at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and assists recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger. He first researched improvised ´diminution art´ in 2004. Since then he has been mainly interested in music from the 16th and 17th centuries.
