Moritz Guttmann was born in 1972 and studied school music, instrumental education and concert oboe and recorder at the Mozarteum University Salzburg as well as choir and orchestra conducting with Walter Hagen-Groll and Herbert Böck.

Since 1998 he has been a teacher at the Borromäum private school and the Educational institution for kindergarten pedagogy, where he is choirmaster. In addition to his pedagogical work as a music teacher and choirmaster, he also works as an oboist in various orchestras. With his choirs and ensembles he has been on numerous concert tours. As the state youth officer of the Austrian Choir Association, he has repeatedly directed and organized training courses, youth singing weeks and youth choir meetings since 2005.

With the men's vocal ensemble "Voices Unlimited" he has been a cultural ambassador for the city of Salzburg since 2008. The ensemble was created almost exclusively in 2003 from students and former students from the Borromäum and is now an independent ensemble consisting of musicians who are all equally dedicated to artistic work. The ensemble was awarded the gold medal and the title "World Choir Champion" at the World Choir Games in China in 2006 and performed at renowned concert events, including in France, Spain, Germany, USA, China, South Africa, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Guttmann is a speaker at various choir seminars and has been a lecturer at the Mozarteum University Salzburg as well as at the Salzburg University of Teacher Education since 2010. In 2010 he received the Erwin Ortner Prize for promoting choral music.
