Alexey Zuev was born in St. Petersburg in 1982. At the age of seven, he began playing the piano at the St. Petersburg Music School and continued his studies at the pre-conservatory. He participated in numerous festivals, including the Moscow Easter Festival, the Festival St. Gallen, the Kissinger Summer Festival, the Festival in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, the Festival Van Vlaanderen in Belgium and the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. He has received numerous awards including the 2nd prize at the International Prokofjew Competition in St. Petersburg (1999), the „Educational Award“ at the London Piano Competition (2002), the 1st prize at the Kissingen Piano Olympics in Bad Kissingen (2004), the 5th prize at the International Swiatoslaw Judge Competition in Moscow (2008) and the 2nd prize at the renowned Géza Anda Competition in Zurich (2009). In 2014 he made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has participated in various master classes, including the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Sergei Dorensky and the International Beethoven Master Class in Positano with John O’Conor. He also worked as a soloist at the „Music Camp“ in Toblach, South Tyrol. He received scholarships from the Bösendorfer piano factory as well as the Herbert von Karajan Center Vienna. From 2000 to 2009 he studied with Alexei Lubimov at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Currently he is a lecturer at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
