Brigitte Schmid grew up in Aalen in Baden-Württemberg and studied violin in Ricardo Odnoposoff's master class and in the chamber music class of the Melos Quartet at the State University of Music in Stuttgart. After graduating in 1980, she joined the Pro Arte Quartet and studied with Sandor Vegh and the Amadeus Quartet. She gave concerts for almost 20 years and was a guest at many international festivals. Numerous CD recordings as well as radio and television recordings are available, besides that she also had solo appearances and played concerts with the piano trio d'accord and the Pro Arte string trio and conducted chamber music courses. In 1980 she taught at the Trostberg Music School in Bavaria and since 1991 she has been working as an assistant to Paul Roczek at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
