Works from the preliminary round may also be chosen for the competition rounds.
In principle we recommend using urtext editions. For works by W. A. Mozart candidates are expected to use the New Mozart Edition: http://www.nma.at/

  • Preliminary round (Video Upload):
    • The first movement from one of the following violin concertos by W. A. Mozart, with cadenza (for the concerts in the final round):
      Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, K. 218
      Concerto for Violin and Orchestra A major, K. 219
    • A virtuoso piece of the candidate’s own choice with a maximum duration of 10 minutes
  • 1st Round (~30 minutes):
    • One of the following works for solo violin by J. S. Bach (to be performed from memory without repeats):
      Partita in B minor, BWV 1002: 3rd movement (Sarabande - Double) + 4th movement (Tempo di Borea - Double)
      Sonata in A minor, BWV 1003: 1st movement (Grave) + 2nd movement (Fuga)
      Sonata in C major, BWV 1005: 1st movement (Adagio) + 2nd movement (Fuga)
      Partita in E major, BWV 1006: 1st movement (Preludio) + 2nd movement (Loure) + 3rd movement (Gavotte en Rondeau) + 5th movement (Bourrée)
    • One of the following Caprices for solo violin by Niccolò Paganini (to be performed from memory without repetitions):
      Caprice op. 1, No. 1 in E minor
      Caprice op. 1, No. 2 in B minor
      Caprice op. 1, No. 10 in G minor
      Caprice op. 1, No. 11 in C major
      Caprice op. 1, No. 15 in E minor
      Caprice op. 1, No. 17 in E flat major
      Caprice op. 1, No. 23 in E flat major
    • One of the following sonatas for violin and piano by W. A. Mozart (without repeats):
      Sonata in A major, K. 305: full work
      Sonata in B flat major, K 454: 1st + 2nd movement
      Sonata in G major, K. 379: full work
      Sonata in A major, K 526: 1st + 2nd movement
  • 2nd Round (~45 minutes):
    • One of the following works by W. A. Mozart without repeats):
      Duo in G major for violin and viola, K. 423: full work
      OR
      Divertimento in E flat major for Violin, Viola and Cello, K. 563: 
      1st movement (Allegro)
      4th movement (Andante)
      6th movement (Allegro)
    • Commissioned work by Florian Willeitner for solo violin (ca. 5 minutes, the music will be sent out after candidates have been registered)
    • One of the following violin concertos, with piano accompaniment:
      L. v. Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major, op. 61: 1st + 2nd movement
      J. Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, op. 77: 1st + 2nd movement
      A. Dvořák: Violin Concerto in A minor, op. 53: 1st + 2nd movement
      É. Lalo: Violin Concerto in D minor, op. 21 Symphonie Espagnole:1st + 2nd + 3rd movement
      A. Glazunov: Violin Concerto in A minor, op. 82: full work
      S. Prokofiev: Violin Concerto in D major, op. 19: 1st + 2nd movement
      H. Vieuxtemps: Violin Concerto in A minor, op. 37: full work
  • Final Round (~40 minutes):
    • One of the following violin concertos by W. A. Mozart, accompanied by orchestra (with repeats):
      Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, K. 218
      Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in A major, K. 219
