Marco Postinghel – Bassoon

 

Born in Bolzano (Italy), Marco Postinghel studied with R. Santi and K. Thunemann and put the finishing touches on his performance at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He was awarded a number of prizes at international competitions, including the ones in Martigny, Ancona and Prague. His concert activity subsequently took him to all Europe, Japan, Korea, Israel, the United States and South America.

 

He has appeared as soloist in a number of bassoon concertos with such conductors as S. Bychkov, C. Davis, C.M. Giulini, D.Harding, L.Maazel, W.Sawallisch, and F. Welser-Möst. M.Postinghel has played chamber music also with Y.Bronfman, Y.Bashmet,,  R. and G. Capuçon, I.Faust, N. Gutman, H. Holliger, G. Kremer, V. Mullova, A. Schiff and  T. Zimmermann at the most important european festivals. After four years as principal bassoonist in the Orchestre de Paris he assumed the same position in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich in 1994.

 

Marco Postinghel performs the classic repertoire as well as the baroque literature on period instruments and also concertizes with such ensembles as the English Baroque Soloists, Concerto Italiano,  Accademia Bizantina, Il suonar parlante, Accademia giocosa and Musica Saeculorum. The bassoonist also appears with orchestras that primarily specialize in cotemporary music such as the Ensemble Ricerca Nuova and the Ensemble Modern, as well with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Cappella Andrea Barca.

 

He also teaches at the Mahler Academy in Bolzano and is woodwind tutor of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. He gives masterclasses in Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Spain, Korea Brazil, Argentina and Japan. Marco Postinghel recorded for Philips, Amadeus, Naive and Musicado and has also served as a juror at the International Music Competition oft he ARD in Munich.
