Michael Walter received his musical education at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he studied IGP piano with Heinz Walter, composition with Cesar Bresgen, IGP organ with Ernst Ludwig Leitner and conducting with Gerhard Wimberger. From 1974 to 1980 he was a student representative of the Department of Keyboard Studies and since 1982 he has been teaching piano and piano internship at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and has worked on various commissions within the institution. He regularly gives concerts (chamber music and song accompaniment) and performs his own works. He also recorded CDs. Since 1986 he has been teaching music at the Rudolf Steiner School in Salzburg. For the final classes of the Waldorf School, he composed and directed three musicals and gave concerts with the school orchestra. Since 1985 he has received seven awards with the Oberstufenchor at the Landesjugendsingen and the Bundesjugendsingen. He has been working as a UNESCO school consultant since 2004 and is therefore responsible for environmental education and peace education at the Salzburg Waldorf School.
