Johann Christoph Lieske was born in Neuwied (Rhine) in 1938, studied in Darmstadt and Hanover with Hans Leygraf.

Recitals and appearances as soloist with numerous European orchestras in
Germany, Switzerland, France, Hungary, Spain, Scandinavia, the Czech Republic and Japan. Extensive activities as a chamber musician, with, among others, the violinist Aida Piraccini-Stucki, teacher of Anne-Sophie Mutter and Claude Starck, 1st solo-cellist of the Tonhalle Orchestra, Zurich. 

 

Teaching activities
When only 19, Lieske was appointed assistant to Prof. Hans Leygraf at the Städtische Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt.
In 1962 appointed lecturer at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Theater, in
Hannover.
Moved to
Switzerland in 1967 and headed a concert class at Winterthur Conservatory. Taught courses and acted as juror in Switzerland and Germany.
In 1986 visiting professor at the
Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Full professor at the
Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 1990.
Since 1989 Christoph Lieske has regularly directed summer courses at the 
Salzburg International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum.
Acted as juror at various music competitions in
Europe and Japan, as well as for the Austrian music competitions Jugend musiziert and Prima la musica in Salzburg, Leoben and Vienna.
