Harald Sowa

Harald Sowa is a regular juror at various competitions (including Prima La Musica, Gradus as Parnassum) and a lecturer for teacher training in didactics, pedagogy and new media. He is a lecturer at various brass courses and an expert advisor for Prima La Musica and the Salzburg Brass Band Association. Together with Gerhard Freiinger and Franz Wagnermeyer, he developed the holistic beginners' school "Der Trompetentrainer", which enables individual musical and technical development of students through a flexible concept.

Harald Sowa received his first trumpet lessons at the music school in Pottschach, later he switched to the Josef Matthias Hauer music school. With the beginning of his studies at the university with Adolf Holler and at the jazz conservatory with Robert Politzer in Vienna, he won the audition for the Trumpet position at the Theater an der Wien, where he played for a year. From 1983 to 2007 he worked in the  Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. In 1985 he moved to the Mozarteum University, later he also studied pedagogy at the University of Art in Graz.

From 1985 to 2010 he taught trumpet at the Musikum Salzburg and from 1998 to 2010 he was head of the brass instruments department. He regularly writes compositions with Liming Zhang-Sowa specifically for the classroom. By programming apps for the musical area of e-learning, he tries to provide support for learners of all ages. Since 2010 he has directed the Musikum Seekirchen in the province of Salzburg.

At the Mozarteum University in Salzburg he teaches pre-employment internships for IGP students.
