Born in Cuba, is a Spanish citizen and lives in Spain since 1991. He graduated from the University of Havana.

Morales has been awarded with many international prizes, including Best Soloist 1994 Sommerakademie Mozarteum Salzburg, William Kapell, Fundación Guerrero, Oporto, Jaén, Epinal, Teresa Carreño, Ciutat de Manresa, Uneac, Vianna Motta, Aosta, Sydney...

He´s considered as one of the best interpreters of Beethoven… Leonel knows him very deeply and it shows when it comes to the transmission of feelings. There can be different tastes, but I personally think that is the best performer of this author I've ever heard. (EL Pais, Jesús Orera)

One of the few pianist who made worldwide that has turned interpreting during two consecutive nights the integral of the concerts for piano and orchestra of Rachmaninov including the Rhapsody on a Paganini's Theme.

In October 2008, he was awarded with the prestigious prix “Tasto D´Argento 2008” (Alexandria – Italy) because of his consolidate international career, valuing also the success in his recent tour of 23 concerts on the best halls of USA, with the Orchestra of the state of Mexico obtaining a spectacular success.

Once again in 2010, the critical named him as "the hero" in the concert tour of Germany in halls such as "Beethovensaal" in Stuttgart, "BASF-Feierabendhaus" in Ludwigshafen with the Valencia Symphony Orchestra playing the Concert nr. 1 of F. Chopin.

He is invited to be part of jury at major international piano competitions. He and his wife are the founders of International Piano Competition “Spanish Composers” in Spain, International Piano Competition Maria Herrero, International Piano Festival Masterclss “Leonel Morales” and International Piano Course for Children-Teenagers.

He also runs successful courses in which he analyses and interprets the 32 Beethoven Sonatas.
Academic member of the “Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría”, in Seville (Spain). Professor at the “Conservatory Castellón- Spain”. Teacher in residence in the Conservatory in San Juan - Puerto Rico - USA advising the department of piano.
