The latter earned him an engagement with the Vienna State Opera in 1978. The same year, Alois Posch graduated with honors from Oberschützen. He was only 18.

From 1983 to 2008, Alois Posch performed as solo bassist for the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic. In the late 1980s, he landed a four-year engagement as visiting professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg, the College for Music and Representative Arts in Salzburg, Austria.
